Feature and Follow {17}

Hello everyone,
As we all know it's FRIDAY and here that means it's Feature and Follow time. Feature and follow for those who don't know (have you been living under a rock?) is a weekly meme hosted by the lovely folk at Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. It is a great way for all us bloggers and readers to get connected by answering one simple question every week. It allows you to see a little more inside my head...though why you'd want to is beyond me, it's a little weird and kinda noisy in there...some places are also a little dusty too...but that's normal...right? Anyway, let's get on with the show!

Today, we're being asked to:

Share your favourite literary quote!

Ok, yep I know this. Actually I'm going to cheat a little and do one profound quote and one funny quote. See if you can guess who they're from and I'll let you know in the comments if you're right :)

First off we have our more serious quote:
“Sometimes, you read a book and it fills you with this weird evangelical zeal, and you become convinced that the shattered world will never be put back together unless and until all living humans read the book.”
And now for the funny one. This does not some me up in any way what so ever...nope...not one bit. It's from one of my favourite characters...gold star to anyone who can guess who :)
“Paranoid? Probably. But just because you're paranoid doesn't mean there isn't an invisible demon about to eat your face.”
Ok then folks, that's me done for this round. Don't forget to enter my 2 year Blogoversary giveaway. There's a link over there ----> somewhere, only a day or so left to enter. Do it. Do it now ;)

Enjoy your weekend everyone!

Over and out!

Feature and Follow {16}

Hi guys, happy new year! Hope you had an amazing holiday season :) I know I did. Today's post is Feature and Follow hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. For those who don't know it's a great way to connect with other readers and bloggers to share your thoughts on a particular topic. And this week it's new years resolutions...normally I'm not good with these but here goes!

Q: WHAT NEW YEARS BLOGGING OR WRITING RESOLUTION HAVE YOU PLACED ON YOURSELF?

Ahh, good question I have a number of them actually so let me lay them out for you.

1) Last year I vowed to blog more...which I did :) This year, I hope to beat last years post count! So resolution 1 is a generic 'Do More Blogging' resolution.

2) Leave NetGalley ALONE! - Not because I don't like it...I adore NetGalley...but I like it too much. I now have a backlog of reviews to do just from the NetGalley books I signed up for :s Therefore, new years resolution number 2 is to not request anything else from NetGalley until I've made my way through the reviews I still have to do!

3) Do work -  This one isn't exactly related to blogging but is writing related. I'm currently in the final year of my Nursing degree (woop!) and have a small mountain of work to do in order to get everything finished and achieve my aim of a 2:1 classification. This includes a dissertation ..which I'm very good at avoiding by say, reading, or blogging. So in a round-about way resolution 3 is contrary to resolution 1. Stop using reading/blogging as an excuse not to do university work.

Ok, so there you have it. My resolutions :) Anyone got anything similar to me? Let me know and I'll get back to you :) OH, and HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Feature and Follow {15}

Hello again! It's Friday (thank goodness) and that means.... drum-roll....it's feature and follow time!!! Yep, it's that time of the week when anyone online can take part in this lovely meme. It's aim is to get a universal question answered and for all us in the blogging world to find and follow new friends :) ON WITH THE SHOW!

Q: When you step out of your USUAL genre what do you like to read? Best books in that genre?

Ooooh, now I do have a confession to make. I haven't always been into the sci-fi/paranormal/urban fantasy scene...in my youth (6-7 years ago) my reading material of choice was crime thrillers! I have read every single Michael Connelly Book, Karin Slaughter Novel, and Mark Billingham thriller :) This love is still reflected in the TV I watch...I'm addicted to NCIS, CSI, Bones, The Mentalist...if it's criminally inclined and gory I will watch it!

The last time I strayed I re-read Blindsighted by Karin Slaughter. It's good, creepy, gory and kept me on my toes, what can I say, I fell in love...again :)
You want the blurb?
The sleepy town of Heartsdale, Georgia, is jolted into panic when Sara Linton, the town’s pediatrician and coroner, finds Sibyl Adams, a young college professor, dead in the local diner. As well as being viciously raped, Sibyl has been cut: two deep knife wounds form a lethal cross over her stomach. But it’s only once Sara starts to perform the postmortem that the full extent of the killer’s brutality starts to become clear.

Police chief Jeffrey Tolliver -- Sara’s ex-husband -- is in charge of the investigation, and when a second victim is found, crucified, only a few days later, he has to face the fact that Sibyl’s murder wasn’t a single personal attack: They’re dealing with a sadistic rapist turned killer who is terrorizing rural Grant County.
Jeffrey isn’t alone in his search. Lena Adams -- the county’s sole female detective -- wants to see justice done since her sister was the first victim. Sara, too, cannot escape the terror. A secret from her past could hold the key to finding the killer -- unless he finds her first.

Oh man I miss crime books...perhaps it's time to stray again ;)

What do you read when you stray from your normal genre? Give me a bell and I'll get back to you!

Feature and Follow {14}

Hi guys, I'm really late posting Feature and Follow this week but these darn night shifts have really screwed with my body clock (hence why I'm also posting at 6am UK time). I'm also ill again *glares at night shifts* this time with a chest infection :( I seem far too prone to these type of things! But anyway, enough excuses...I'm glad to be back doing Feature and Follow hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read, the general idea being if you follow me and leave me a link to your website I'll hunt you down, check you out and follow back!! So here's this week's question, let's get discussing!

Q: What hyped up book do you think was worth all the talk?

Ahh! Such a hard question to answer! I imagine many people have read 50 Shades...but I'm not one of them. I imagine many people have read The Hunger Games...again I'm not one of them (though I ADORE the film). So my answer will not be related to a recent hype, but probably the biggest one in the last 10 years...do you know which book I mean? Of course I am talking about Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows!! As the seventh and final book in this epic saga, The Deathly Hallows more than lived up to my expectations, I laughed, I cried (oh dobby and Fred!!) I read it in one 4 hour sitting. It was worth the headache and eye strain because there was no way on this earth I was putting it down for even one minute...and not just because some scheming family member would have stolen it ;)

So yes, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows it is for me! What was it for you?

Love you all, and will see you soon!

Feature and Follow {15}

Helllloooo! Long time no post I know but I'm back and raring to go...as long as I don't have to physically move, damn I'd forgotten what being on your feet 8 hours a day felt like. Anyway, I'll stop complaining. So today is Friday *does happy dance with arms only* and of course it's FEATURE AND FOLLOW TIME :)
For those who don't know, Feature and Follow is a weekly meme run by the good folks at Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. Let's see what this week's question is shall we?!

Q:  If you could "unread" a book, which one would it be?  Is it because you want to start over and experience it again for the first time?  Or because it was THAT bad?

Ahh, now that's a tricky one...I personally don't wish to unread books, I may regret reading them but would never not have wanted to read it (if that makes any sense). Mainly because there is a reason I start each book and the way I am means I get a physical itch...no seriously, it's actually hard to control myself...when I'm not reading or haven't picked up something new in a while. Regret is much easier to live with than that itch let me tell you.

But to answer the question, I would have to say Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone. Purely because I can't actually remember reading it for the first time. I must have been about 10 or 11 I think when I first read it...maybe even younger. Either way, I would love to go back and jump head-first into the magical world as an adult. It must be an amazing experience :)

Ok, so that's all for this weeks Feature and Follow! Let me know what books you would like to unread!!

100th Feature and Follow Giveaway Hop Celebration!

Welcome to V's Book Life! Hello to those who are visiting for the first time and Welcome Back to those who have come before :) Now, those of you who regularly read know that (almost) every Friday I pparticipate in the meme FEATURE AND FOLLOW hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read.
This week's FF is a little different, because it's the 100th celebration. Yep, Feature and Follow has been running for 100 weeks *cheers*. Congrats to the hosts on making such a successful meme! I've really loved participating even though I've not been posting for long :)

Anyway, in celebration there is a Giveaway Hop and I'm a most willing participant :) I love you guys and I love feature and follow! However, before we get to the Giveaway details, I have the Feature part of the post to do!

My feature task this week is to feature another blog/blogger. Today I will be introducing you to Liz at Night Sky Reviews!
Why did I pick Liz to feature do you ask? Well, to be honest I was struggling to think of just one blog that love and admire since there are so many amazing ones out there! So I decided that I would introduce myself (and you) to a new blog, one that I hadn't read before...and so the search began. I was looking for someone unique and just cool...and I stumbled across Night Sky Reviews. As soon as I saw it, I just knew. I really love the header design and layout, but what really sealed the deal was in the 'about me' section. Not only is Liz the same age as me (20) but she is also a huge Harry Potter fan like me :) However Liz definitely seems like a more dedicated fan...she has 2 HARRY POTTER TATTOOS!! How freaking awesome is that...a bottle of Felix Felicis on the back of her neck and the Deathly Hallows symbol on her arm! So cool! So yeah, you need to stop by Night Sky Reviews and check out what Liz has to say :)

Feature and Follow {13}

Righty then, it's currently 4:00 am here in the UK and I can't seem to sleep. So I figured I'd see if this week's feeture and follow was up yet and thankfully the answer was yes! Feature and Follow is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read, where bloggers all around the globe converge to make new friends :)
This weeks Feature and Follow question comes from the lovely folks at Underworld Love Addiction and Charissa Books.

Q. Activity! Dream cast your current read.

Oooh, ok...this should be fun. Earlier today I finished Hounded by Kevin Hearne. Which I must say is an amazing read, if you haven't tried his Iron Druid Chronicles you need to get out there and pick one up. Seriously feeling some Druid love over here :)
Anyway, our hero is a 2,100 year old Druid who goes by the name Atticus O'Sullivan. His 'young Irish lad façade' hiding his true power in plain sight.
'When I go to the grocery store, for example, and people see my curly red hair, fair skin, and long goatee, they suspect I play soccer and drink lots of Guinness. When I'm going sleeveless and they see the tattoos all up and down my right arm, they assume I'm in a rock band and smoke lots of weed. It never enteres their mind that I could be an ancient Druid - and that's the main reason I like this look. If I grew a white beard and got myself a pointy hat, oozed dignity and sagacity and glowed with beatitude, people might start to get the wrong - or the right - idea.'

I adore Atticus' character...he has so much power yet is quite content to let people think he's younger and weaker than he is - in fact, he prefers it that way. But this 2,100 year old Druid has quite the sense of humour and is quick witted - he makes awesome analogies when explaining new fangled devices to gods and goddesses.

I honestly can't picture anyone playing him...I just like the guy on the cover of the book :) However...whoever did get cast as Atticus would HAVE to get his lovely Irish accent just right, man I love a good Irish accent, the way they speak is almost musical...*makes note to go to Dublin ASAP*
All right then good people, let me know what you think!
Bye for now!

Feature and Follow {12}

Hey everyone, it's Friday and in the book blogging world that means it's Feature and Follow time! Feature and follow is a weekly meme run by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read where bloggers all across the world can connect in order to answer a question.

This week the question is:
Q: Summer Break is upon us! What would be the perfect vacation spot for you to catch up on your reading & relax?

I think that is an amazing question...I'm not on my summer break from university for another 2 months but if I were going now I'd definitely choose somewhere peaceful. You know, one of those places where all you can hear are the sounds of nature around you. Somewhere I could sit and watch the sunset. Where it's warm enough to sit on a balcony in your PJ's and watch the world go by. Somewhere you can breathe the sea air, clean and fresh and not have to worry about a single thing.
Unfortunately I have yet to find such a place...but the picture below illustrates the scene I'd want pretty well.
 http://www.holiday-rentals.co.uk/p422324

Beautiful! This is the view from a villa in Podstrana, Croatia and I seriously would love to go there. If I had the money I'd definitely rent it!

Is your perfect place similar to mine? Let me know :)
Oh, and don't forget...you can still enter my 1 year Blogiversary Giveaway here!

Catch you later!

Feature and Follow {11}

Hello! It's Friday any you know what that means, Feature and Follow time! Feature and Follow is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read and is a fabulous way of all us bloggers out there to interact. So, hello to those who have not visited me before and welcome back to those who have :) Righty then...lets have a look at this week's question.

Q: This Sunday in the U.S. is Mother’s Day, in celebration, what are some of your favorite books with strong mother/child relationships?

Ahh, ok...we in the UK had Mothering Sunday back in March. I tried to cook for my Mum but she insisted on doing it herself...something about not wanting to get food poisoning apparently. She's a Food Technology teacher so can get a bit funny about people making mess in her kitchen *looks guilty*. I love my Mummy with all my heart, she has always been there for me and has never lost her patience...she really has the patience of a saint since I was an awful child...Sorry Mum :)

Anyway, my favourite mother/child relationships definitely come from Sherrilyn Kenyon's writing. Whether it's the tragic story of Acheron and the Destroyer...a mother who can never hold her child, a child who has never felt the security of his mothers arms around him. They can never meet face to face...but Acheron loves his mother  and the Destroyer would die for her son...or end the world for him, whichever works best. That relationship is one that always kills me!
http://www.homelifeweekly.com/mothers-day/printable-mothers-day-cards/
http://www.homelifeweekly.com
Another mother/child relationship I find fascinating is Artemis and Katra (again from her Dark Hunter Series). Artemis always seemed so cold and calculating and then we see one of Kat's memories...one where we see Artemis acting like a mother, showing her child warmth and love that she's never shown anyone else. The fact that she gets very freaked out by the title Grandma is also amusing :)

Also...I know it technically doesn't count...but the men from the League series...these huge burly assassins and they get completely flummoxed by their own children. Such lethal men whose hearts hold so much love for their children, it's beautifully written, though dating Nykyrian's daughter would be extremely hazardous to your health I think...yeah he'd definitely be one of those fathers cleaning blasters or sharpening knives when the guy walks through the door *laughs*.

Alrighty then, I've got to go I will see you folks later :) Leave me your thoughts and I'll get back to you!

Bye!

Feature and Follow {10}

HELLO! For those of you who are just joining us I'm Vikki and I spend quite a bit of my time hanging out here. Anyway today is Friday, which means it's Feature and Follow time *does happy dance*. This is a meme hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read where all my fellow book lovers get together and answer one not so simple question. Todays FF question comes from the good people at Little Red Riding Hood and Book That Thing!

Q: Have you had a character that disappointed you? One that you fell in love with and then “broke up” with later on in either the series or a stand-alone book? Tell us about him or her.

Let me tell you about one of my best friends from a couple of years ago. Picture me, a geeky 17 year old who checked out 10 or more books from the library at a time (all PR or UF). One day, by pure chance I met a strong, opinionated, kick-ass young woman who took shit from no-one. It didn't take us long to become the best of friends.  Ok, so she may not have had the greatest wardrobe, we couldn't swap clothes and shoes that often...all she seemed to own were different coloured Nikes, and I'm more a 6 inch heels kinda girl...but I accepted that and we went on amazing journeys together. Her sense of humour had me in fits of giggles and her wit/ sarcasm only added to her amazing personality. To top it off she had a wicked cool job raising zombies and executing rogue vampires and I was always welcome along for the ride. Together we kicked vampire ass, rebelled against our stubborn (but drool worthy) Master of the City and collected cute, cuddly, stuffed penguins.
Then everything changed...
She started spending more time with the vampires, began a relationship with the Master of the City. At first I was happy for her she deserved some love in her life...but being with Jean-Claude had consequences and now she's stuck. When I last spoke to her she was in a committed relationship with more people than just Jean-Claude, shape changers and other master vampires share her bed. Before she would rather killed a Vampire (or die trying) than have sex with one, but now I don't know any more. Our adventures together began to be pushed to one side... and our friendship began to crumble. The last I heard she'd gone hunting a rogue with our mutual friend Edward...which sounds more like the woman I once knew...maybe there's still hope.

I still don't see much of Anita Blake any more, and I wish we could go back to when we first met...but so much has changed...she's changed. I don't know if we'll ever have that friendship back but I am always hopeful. I hope we can finish our journey one day Anita and I'll wait as long as it takes for you to come back to me.

It hurts to talk about the loss of any friendship but I will forever remain hopeful that one day Anita and I will resolve our issues and become best friends once more.

Got a story like mine...let me know :)
See you soon!

Feature and Follow {9}

Hi guys, welcome to V's Book Life.  If you're new here then HELLO! I'm Vikki and I'm a bookaholic...something many of those who have visited before will be well aware of. Anyway it's Friday (thank goodness) and it's Feature and Follow time! Feature and follow is a weekly meme run by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read which pulls all us bloggers together to answer the question of the week. This weeks question comes from bloggers at Amy's Book World and Word Spelunking.

Q: Fight! Fight! If you could have two fictional characters battle it out (preferably from books), who would they be and who do you think would win?

AWESOME QUESTION! It reminds me of the Alpha showdown being held over at Vampire Book Club over the next few weeks (if you haven't heard you should definitely check it out here!) Anyway the two characters I would love to duke it out would have to be Kate Daniels and Curran (from Ilona Andrews' Kate Daniels series). I know they're mated and everything and that over the entire series they have had several mini battles BUT I'd love to know who'd win a no holds barred fight between the two. Kate and Slayer (her trusty sword) are quite a team together, not to mention the sheer volume of magical punch Kate could pack if it came down to it. However Curran is...well...Curran *swoons*. He is the Beast Lord of Atlanta, basically the Alpha of all Alpha's whose warrior form is rivalled by no other. He shifts into a pre-historic lion for crying out loud. Nothing much gets to him...except Kate...so yeah I think an epic battle between these two would be very close and something I'd pay good money to see!
Want to know more? You can read my 5 Star review of Magic Bites (book  1) here!

Alrighty, that's your lot for now but who would you want to see duke it out?

Bye!

Feature and Follow {8}

Hi everyone! It's Friday and that means Feature and Follow time. This is a meme run by the lovely folks at Parajunkee and Alison Can Read and is a fab way for all us bloggers to connect and share our thoughts...as crazy as mine can be! Anyway today's question is;

Q: What is one book that you would be nervous to see a movie adaption of because you think the movie could never live up to the book?

Oh wow, erm...I'm always nervous when there is a film adaptation because I'm petrified it's going to go horribly wrong and put me off the books. Saying that though I've never been too damaged by film adaptations in the past... meaning I haven't got to the point where I want to remove the piece of my brain that remembers the film...not yet anyway :)
I would be petrified about the BDB series being made into a film (especially Zsadists book) because I love the series so much that I can't even picture someone playing the warriors because J.R. Ward has made them so real to me. Plus you all know about my small Zsadist obsession...ok fine...my HUGE Zsadist obsession. If he were to be portrayed incorrectly I think I'd cry...*shudders at the thought*.

The blurb of Lover Awakened (Zsadist's Book)
In the shadows of the night in Caldwell, New York, there’s a deadly war raging between vampires and their slayers. And there exists a secret band of brothers like no other - six vampire warriors, defenders of their race. Of these, Zsadist is the most terrifying member of the Black Dagger Brotherhood.
A former blood slave, the vampire Zsadist still bears the scars from a past filled with suffering and humiliation. Renowned for his unquenchable fury and sinister deeds, he is a savage feared by humans and vampires alike. Anger is his only companion, and terror is his only passion—until he rescues a beautiful aristocrat from the evil Lessening Society.
Bella is instantly entranced by the seething power Zsadist possesses. But even as their desire for one another begins to overtake them both, Zsadist’s thirst for vengeance against Bella’s tormentors drives him to the brink of madness. Now, Bella must help her lover overcome the wounds of his tortured past, and find a future with her…

Come on! I love this story...the love between Bella and Zsadist captivates me, both are scarred and Zsadist's dreams are filled with the horrors of the past. The way these two work to overcome everything they've been through is beautiful...and the end always makes me cry...no exception!

Anyway, that's my answer! Let me know what you think.

Feature and Follow {7}

Hey Guys! It's Friday which means Feature and Follow time! tthis is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. Feature and Folow allows all us bloggers to connect and share our thoughts on a particular topic. This weeks question is;

Q: Have you ever bought a book BECAUSE of a bad review?

I can honestly say I've never gone out and specifically found a book because of a negative review. If I'm questioning whether I should buy a particular book I will look around on Goodreads and blogger websites to see what people think. I can admit however that I am one of those people who if they see some 1 star reviews on Amazon or Goodreads I will immediately read them *looks ashamed*. Some I don't take seriously...if there is only one line that says 'I hated it!! Only got 3 pages in before I had to put it down!' then I won't take much notice however if the reader has expanded and explained what they didn't like then I give it more credence. I like to have that balance of positive and negative because naturally one book won't be loved by everyone. I do buy books that have mixed reviews if I like the sound of the blurb and have enjoyed any excerpts...but negative reviews may cause my to proceed with caution.
Childhood memories! Happy Easter Everyone!
Alright, let me know what you think! Don't worry I don't bite (well...not as much as I used to) and I will always follow back :)
But no...I've never read a bad review and immediately gone 'I must have that'.

Happy Easter everyone!

Feature and Follow {6}

Hi guys, it's Feature and Follow time again - it comes around quickly! It's hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. Hello to those new to V's Book Life - run by me (Vikki) a tea junkie and book obsessed student from England. Hi to my lovely loyal followers. I had some distressing news this week...my favourite tea place has closed down *cries*. I'm going to miss it...now where can I get my fruit tea and book combination...Anyway I'm getting distracted, this weeks Feature and Follow question comes from bloggers at Sarah's Books & Life and Short and Sweet;

Q: What is the longest book you’ve read? What are your favorite 600+ page reads?

I know this! The longest book I've ever read was probably Obsidian Butterfly by Laurell K. Hamilton standing at I think 700 ish pages (it's one of the better Anita Blake novels - considering my mini rant last week that's saying something). However Acheron by Sherrilyn Kenyon must be a similar length, possibly longer...not entirely sure.
Either way Acheron wins hands down in the favourite category I mean seriously...the Dark Hunter Series is one of my all time favourites and this is the main man's book. We all knew it had to be long to do the mysterious Acheron justice...but wow...Acheron remains in my top 3 favourite books of all time...and I think it's going to stay there. I'm very jealous of Tory, I wanted Acheron... tall, gorgeous and haunted by his traumatic past he is the son of two Atlantean Gods and holds the final fate of the world in his large hands. Not even the age difference could bother me... I mean what difference does 11,000 years make?!

Anyway, leave me your comments and I always follow back :)
Catch you later!

Feature and Follow {5}

Hi everyone, now most of you will have heard of the weekly meme hoted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read called Follow Friday. Its purpose? To connect bloggers all over the world. Sooo, I'd like to say thanks for hopping by and I hope you'll drop me a comment. I always follow back :)

This weeks question comes from JoAnne at The Fairytale Nerd...
Q: What is the best book you've read in the last month? What is the worst book you've read in the last month?

Hmmm....ok. Toughy again. Oh I know!!!

Best - Archangel's Kiss by Nalini Singh (Guild Hunter #2). It's about the 3rd time I've read Archangel's Kiss and I'm still blown away by the writing. I love Elena and Raphael as a couple...they just fit so well, I can't wait for more from them. PLUS we are introduced to all members of Raphael's Seven - including the mysterious Aodhan (though my heart will always belong to Illium *sigh*). Cannot fault it one bit.

Worst - The Harlequin by Laurell K Hamilton (Anita Blake #15). To be honest I'm getting rather tired of this series. What started out as a very promising series has been grossly stretched out so much that I no longer see the elements that made me fall in love with Guilty Pleasures. I mean, who exactly is Anita in a relationship with?? She just seems to sleep with anything that moves! I am seriously contemplating giving up completely!

What are your best and worst?
Talk soon!

Feature and Follow {4}

Time for the weekly feature and follow meme hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. For you new folks my name is Vikki and I'm the paranormal/urban fantasy junkie responsible for what you see here. Hi again to my loyal followers. It's been a long week this week, everything seems to be going wrong. The toilet blocked, then the boiler broke and to top it all off I misplaced my keys (though I did eventually find them in my boot but that's not the point).
Anyway, this weeks question comes from Hesperia Loves Books.

Q: Have you ever looked at book’s cover and thought, This is going to horrible? But, was instead pleasantly surprised? Show us the cover and tell us about the book.

I'm generally attracted to covers that are eye catching, big bold colours...something that isn't boring basically. Anything with a lot of blue is a big bonus as well...I love blue! Either way I wasn't particularly grabbed by the cover of I Am Number Four by Pittacus Lore but since my friend kept pushing it under my nose I had to give it a read. You know what? I did really enjoy the book, and subsequently the film. It's more of a science fiction novel, but it's not so complicated that I had trouble following. Some science fictions completely lose me which is why I'm careful about which ones I pick up.
Here's the blurb:
There were nine. Three are dead. I Am Number Four.
Nine teenagers and their guardians are hiding on Earth... protected by a charm that means they can only be killed in numeric order, three are already dead. John Smith is Number Four. And his mortal enemies, the Mogadorian, are hunting him down.
The only way to keep off radar is to keep moving, never staying in one place for long. Finally in the firing line, all he can do is adopt the guise of a student and pray his unusual gifts—his legacies home; Planet Lorien—stay hidden long enough for him to settle into this new community.
But others seem to sense his otherness and when small-town life sucks him into its intrigues, it’s only a matter of time before his true nature is revealed. And that means there’s no space for love, friendship or a future if it means protecting not only himself, but the other five...

It's great, fast paced with enough action to keep me interested, a touch of romance is involved. The Power of Six (book #2) is on my TBR list.

Ok, that's what I thought, what about you guys? Leave me a comment with your thoughts.
Catch you later!
